"Maggie and Negan travel into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan cut off from the mainland in search of Maggie's kidnapped son, Hershel. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror."

Why You Should Watch It

Set two years after the events of the parent show, Dead City sees Maggie team up with Negan to rescue her kidnapped son. This is not a buddy cop show though, as the two have their differences, the main being that Negan killed Maggie's husband, and the father of the child they are heading to New York to save. Negan became a fan favourite, or at least, you hated to love him, so it's no surprise he gets a spin off. This is a fully fledged show, not a mini series, so you'll have to hold on to your stomach for a few years longer. "Fear the Walking Dead" might be coming to an end after 8 seasons, but there's plenty of undead-life in the franchise yet, with Dead City, and Daryl's upcoming Euro-trip spin off, and THEN a mini-series based around some guy called Rick...

Who Is In It?

Maggie, who has been played by Lauren Cohan in the Walking Dead parent series since season 2, is the victim of a raid. They don't just take supplies; they kidnap her son, Hershel. In order to save him, she tracks the group to Manhattan, which has been cut off from the main land, and is its own zone of rules and terrors. She discovers that the leader of the raiders, The Croat (played by Zeljko Ivanek, who is awesomely creepy in everything he's in, even if he's playing a good guy), has a long sighted and neferious plan. He has also had prior dealings with Negan (played with gusto and charm by Jeffrey Dean Morgan), and so Maggie turns to her one time nemesis (Negan did kill her husband after all) for help. Negan has his own baggage, having mellowed out in his contact with Judith, and now has a surrogate daughter in tow.

When Will New 'The Walking Dead: Dead City' Episodes Be Released On AMC?

As usual AMC will air episodes every Sunday, starting from Sunday the 18th of June 2023. The premier episode is set to be released on AMC+ a few days earlier, so if you have a subscription to the service, or want to be enticed to sign up, you can watch Episode 101 on Friday the 16th of June 2023.
