"As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri's magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl's untapped powers; instead, they discover they've landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. Why You Should Watch It

Season 3 plot is inspired by the second Witcher novel, Time of Contempt, and has Geralt turning away from the usual Witcher creed of neutrality and a lack of emotion. In order to save Ciri he'll have to grow as person, and accept that he's part of a family, and that he'll need their help, which include Yennefer and even Jaskier.

Henry Cavill's last outing as Geralt of Rivia is more of the story than the show is currently. After off screen disagreements with the writers and the deviations from the source material, Cavill is stepping down as the Witcher at the end of this season. Taking over from him is that guy from the Thor movies... no wait, the other one, from Westworld... no, that still feels wrong... er... the one from Hunger Games! How many Hemsworths are there?! Liam, the youngest of the half dozen Hemsworths, has some big, mud filled boots to squish into next season. And the show has just been renewed for a Season 5, so it'll be around for a while yet.

Who Is In It?

Season 3 of The Witcher will be Henry Cavill's final hunt as Geralt, so feast your eyes while you can. He'll have to get out of his comfort zone in order to keep Ciri, played by Freya Allan, safe. Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Joey Batey rocking out as Jaskier make up the rest of Geralt's "family".

When Will New 'The Witcher' Episodes Be Released On Netflix?

Much like with the latest season of Stranger Things, Netflix is breaking up Season 3 of The Witcher, and not into equal portions, and thankfully, not for very long. Though you might think eight episodes splits nicely in half, the first five episodes will drop on Thursday the 29th of June, 2023. The remaining 3 episodes will arrive a month later, premiering on Thursday the 27th of July, 2023. Of course, The TV Calendar visualises this as 1 per day, but you're all used to that by now, right?
