Season 1 starts Wednesday 27th August 2025 // Network: Prime Video
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf Official Synopsis
"Navy SEAL Ben Edwards finds himself entangled in the black operations side of the CIA. The deeper Ben goes into the 'gray', the harder it will become to not give himself over to his darker impulses. Every man has two wolves inside him - light and dark - fighting for control. Which wolf will Ben Edwards feed?"
Why You Should Watch 'The Terminal List: Dark Wolf'
This gritty prequel to The Terminal List takes you deep into the origins of Ben Edwards, played by Taylor Kitsch. Set seven years before James Reece's mission of vengeance, Edwards is at a turning point. He's fresh out of the SEALs and gets pulled into the morally murky world of covert intelligence.
Set in the chaotic aftermath of 9/11, the series tracks Ben's rise through the ranks of the CIA's darkest corridors. As missions blur the line between service and survival, Ben is forced to navigate a web of lies, deep-cover betrayals, and brutal decisions that chip away at his soul. Along the way, Edwards forms a close bond with Reece (Chris Pratt, returning in a supporting role) as they train forces in Iraq and navigate a battlefield where alliances are constantly shifting. That friendship? It won't last. But in this world, nothing does.
Dark Wolf is intense, grounded, and an unflinching look at the choices made in silence, with consequences that echo for years. With high-stakes action, moral complexity, and the gritty realism fans of the franchise expect, Dark Wolf shows you the kind of man Ben Edwards had to become long before the Terminal List was written.
Who Is In 'The Terminal List: Dark Wolf'?
Taylor Kitsch stars as Ben Edwards, a US Navy SEAL on the verge of becoming a CIA Ground Branch operative, and was previously seen in the OG Terminal List series. Dark Wolf is a prequel to that show, which is obvious given that Edwards is walking around. Kitsch found fame on the critically acclaimed (but constant cancel bubble fodder) teen football drama Friday Night Lights. A stint on acclaimed series True Detective aired a decade ago, and he's recently been seen in American Primeval.
Star of the OG Terminal List, Chris Pratt returns as James Reece, before the bad times. Here he's friends with Edwards as they go through SEAL training before their paths diverge. Other than the mother show (which returns for Season 2 next year), Pratt made a name for himself on the excellent Parks and Recreation before transitioning almost completely to film, but some might remember him as the obnoxious hippy Ché in The OC. How old am I?
Tom Hopper portrays Lieutenant Raife Hastings, a fellow Navy SEAL, being described as a "hunter, protector, and guardian". Knowing this series though, that probably makes him the big baddie. Taking bets now. Hopper is no stranger to genre TV shows, having a main role in Black Sails, and known primarily for The Umbrella Academy.
Luke "The Least" Hemsworth (that's unfair, I take that back) plays Jules Landry, a CIA contractor. There's little info on his character, but that just means he's good at his (fake) job, I suppose. Luke has previously been seen (probably) as Stubbs in Westworld, but has also played two different characters in the ozzy soap opera Neighbours, highlighting how memorable he is. I mean, good at undercover...

Fun Fact
Dark Wolf wasn't a show that was meant to be made. Season 2 of the original Terminal List was rumoured almost immediately after the show aired, but it wasn't until early February 2023 - 6 months after the last episode - that the official announcement came. And with it a surprise! Due to fan reaction to the character, or at least to the scenario the character finds himself in at the end, the showrunners saw an opportunity for a spin off. Let's hope it's worth it, and not a waste of time that they could have brought us Season 2 in the meantime. Three years is a long time...
