'Wednesday' - Season 2 Episode Release Dates, Cast, Trailer

Season 2 starts Wednesday 6th August 2025 // Network: Netflix

Wednesday Official Synopsis

"A sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy. She is still attempting to master her emerging psychic ability, but this season, Wednesday's journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore. It's the first time she's returned to a school willingly. But as soon as she gets back, nothing happens that she's expecting. She thinks she's going to be in control, that she knows where all the bodies are buried, but, it turns out, she doesn't at all..."

Why You Should Watch 'Wednesday'

Wednesday gives the iconic Addams Family daughter her own twisted spotlight in this darkly funny, supernatural mystery. Sent to Nevermore Academy, Wednesday Addams (played to sardonic perfection by Jenna Ortega) isn't here to make friends. She's here to prevent the murder of her best friend, Enid, which she believes will be her fault.

With a psychic gift she barely controls and a reputation that precedes her, Wednesday navigates secret societies, rival cliques, and creepy visions of the Kansas City Scalper. There's romance, rivalry, and more than a few bodies. She's not impressed. Don't smile, because she won't be either.

Equal parts gothic coming-of-age story and clever detective series, Wednesday blends Tim Burton's signature style with sharp writing and a heroine who'd rather stab you with a cello bow than give a compliment. If you like your mysteries strange and your leads even stranger, this one's calling your name. Unfortunately, Season 2 eight episodes will be split in half, the first quartest in August and the latter half a month later, in September.

Who Is In 'Wednesday'?

Jenna Ortega returns (obviously) as the eponymous character, Wednesday Addams. While she was far from a new face on our screens, the Netflix show was her break out moment, and in the three years the Addams family have been away, Ortega has starred in 2 "Scream" films and the lead in the "Beetlejuice" update. Despite being born this side of the millennium, she's apparently a big fan of remaking late 80's / early 90's stuff.

Her room-mate Enid Sinclair is played by Emma Myers, another not-quite-new actress thrust into the limelight of the show. Taking the lead in the BBCs "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder", which has been renewed, means she has two on-going TV shows at the same time. She's also done voice over work for small unknown indie films such as Minecraft and Angry Birds 3.

Catherine Zeta-Jones reprises her role as matriarch Morticia Addams. While she was seen in Season 1, she'll be a much more prominent figure in Wednesday's life as she takes a job at Nevermore. Despite being more well known for her film career in the early 2000's, Zeta-Jones got her start on UK TVs "The Darling Buds of May", and has more recently been seen in "Queen America" and "National Treasure: Edge of History".

Steve Buscemi joins the cast as Nevermore's new headteacher - Principal Barry Dort. After the previous principal became a victim of Season 1, he's here to right the wrongs at the school, being described as a polar opposite to his predecessor. Again, more famous for his work on the big screen, Buscemi is no stranger to the smaller screen, having long running roles in gritty and deep shows such as 'Sopranos', 'Boardwalk Empire' and 'Miracle Workers'.

Among a host of other big names joining the cast this year, Lady Gaga is set to bring her usual quirkiness to a quirky role. While not appearing until the 2nd part of the season (4 episodes arrive in September), she will portray Rosaline Rotwood - a legendary teacher whose presence is as enigmatic as her name suggests, and connected on a deeper level than anyone knows. She has previously been seen in multiple seasons of antholgy show 'American Horror Story'. Gaga also drops an original song “Dead Dance” in this role, so we might get another amazing performance out of Ortega on the floor.

When Will New 'Wednesday' Episodes Be Released On Netflix?

Wednesday will release the first four episodes on Wednesday (how fortuitous) 6th of August 2025. Then, like more and more of Netflixs bigger shows, there will be a month break until the final four episodes hit our screens on Wednesday (I see a pattern) 3rd September. The hit show has already been renewed for Season 3 - let's hope there's not another 3 year wait between episodes!

Fun Fact

Lady Gaga was not originally part of the cast but her fan-driven connection to Wednesday Addams helped get her the role.
After Season 1 went viral on TikTok, with fans syncing Wednesday’s now-iconic dance scene to Gaga’s "Bloody Mary", Netflix and the show creators took note. The unexpected viral mashup helped inspire her involvement in Season 2. Sometimes fans get their dreams come true, which is why we love showbiz!
