The mythical Lady of the Lake appears to the Charmed Ones, asking for their help to protect the legendary Arthurian sword Excalibur. The sword still resides its stone casing, and soon dozens of magical beings arrive to try their luck at pulling the powerful object free. Piper finally pulls the sword out, but that leads to the arrival of a mysterious figure known as Mordaunt, who may have his own ulterior motives.
The three Halliwell sisters have accepted their destiny of protecting the innocent and vanquishing evil doers, even though that is generally not on the agenda of every twenty-something on the fast track to discovering what life's all about.
Prue, the oldest, is driven to succeed and dislikes the free-spirited antics of the youngest sister Phoebe. Piper, the earthy middle sister, mediates between her siblings. Prue has the power to move objects, Piper to freeze time and Phoebe to see the future. In the fourth season, Prue died and was replaced by Paige, a half sister, who has the power to move objects and orb (teleport).
The sisters must band together to protect themselves, and the world, from the dark, demonic forces that seek to destroy them.
