Summer on the west coast has never been hotter, Matt Shade and Angie Everett are leading surprisingly different lives in Victoria, B.C. with a group of new friends, and fresh faces to help them.

Detective-wannabe Raine drops a missing-person case on Shade and Angie: a university student hasn't returned from her hike, and a threatening note left under their door has her roommate panicking. The detectives dive into campus life, navigating lecture halls, shady student groups, and the ultimate question: Did the missing girl have a stalker? Meanwhile, Will conducts nanny interviews while watching Declan, which ends with a surprising nanny choice no one saw coming!

Shade and Angie are hired to investigate a suspicious fire in a Chinatown hair salon. Once the detectives discover the real target of the arson, they are thrust into Victoria's lucrative art scene, where they smoke out a scheme to destroy the remaining works of a beloved local painter.
